RESEARCH PROGRAM

Women's Mental Health

Trauma, stress and adversity can have different and unique impacts on women, by virtue of biological sex and gender, as well as societal and environmental factors. However, there is still a significant gap in our understanding of the experiences of women specifically. This includes the factors contributing to their mental health and wellbeing, and the most appropriate and effective interventions to manage and support their mental health.

This program of work brings together:

  • Basic research aimed at identifying particular risk and resilience factors that contribute to women’s mental health.
  • Design and trial of interventions tailored for women.
  • Consultation and co-design activities.
  • Translation projects to develop tools and resources to address the needs of women and families.
