Family and Domestic Violence, including Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), are leading causes of disease burden and mental health problems in Australia. They intersect with many other forms of trauma exposure and adversity. This includes both violence exposure (or victimisation), which is regularly reported in post-disaster settings and high-risk organisational contexts, along with IPV use (or perpetration) which also co-occurs commonly with trauma and associated mental health problems.
Phoenix Australia is conducting ground-breaking research with a view toward increasing understanding of the mental health impacts and interventions for IPV, and improving ways of addressing violence in diverse service use and organisational settings. These include services for military and ex-service personnel, in post-disaster environments and in mental health service settings.
