Trauma-focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is an evidence-based approach to the treatment of children, adolescents and adults with clinically relevant posttraumatic stress symptoms.
Developed specifically for mental health practitioners, this comprehensive three-part course is self-paced and explores the key components of Trauma-focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for the treatment of children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder.
The course offers a range of learning activities including readings, scenario-based activities, video demonstrations and opportunities to reflect on application of content to professional practice. Participants can also choose activities that best match the ages of the clients they work with.
“We know that understanding trauma and its impacts’ begins by examining a range of trauma-related mental health conditions, “Associate Professor Leanne Humphreys, Director Training and Workforce Development said.
“Participants are then introduced to the common components of Trauma- focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and the ways in which each component of treatment can be adapted to the age and developmental stage of the client.”
“From there, participants are provided with the opportunity to engage with materials that provide clear, step-by-step instructions in the use of imaginal and in-vivo exposure therapy, and trauma-focussed cognitive therapy.”
Participants can elect to complete any of the three parts of the course, according to their individual learning needs.
Those who complete all three parts receive the Phoenix Australia Certificate in Trauma-focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
