Find out moreClinicians that are part of the SNC have specialised training and extensive experience in the treatment of mental health issues in the emergency services sector. Members of the SNC must be registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and be experienced in the delivery of evidence-based trauma-focused mental health interventions. They are recruited and assessed by Responder Assist using a purpose-built competency framework based on foundational and functional clinical competencies that are specifically relevant to working with first responders.
Our specialist clinicians are engaged in ongoing training and supervision to ensure that they are up to date with the latest developments in research and evidence-based trauma treatments for emergency workers. Responder Assist also manages a peer network for these clinicians with opportunities for regular interaction. This includes Community of Practice sessions where clinicians share knowledge and experience to support peer-to-peer learning.
The SNC is further supported by our Multidisciplinary Advice Panel – a panel of experts (available to all medical and health practitioners working with emergency services personnel in Victoria) who can provide consultations on specific individual cases. You can find out more about the MDAP on our website here.
As Responder Assist grows in capacity, the SNC will continue to grow in learning, experience and capability. Informed by our ongoing research, our specialist clinicians are enabled to dynamically respond to emerging needs in the emergency services community, enhancing their ongoing critical role in supporting Responder Assist’s strategy.
If you are interested in joining the network or would like to find out more about the SNC take a look at our page here, and consider submitting an expression of interest online. Want to keep up-to-date with all things Responder Assist? Subscribe to our mailing list here.
