RESEARCH PROJECT

SOLAR-Kids/Teens

The Skills fOr Life Adjustment and Resilience Program for children and adolescents (SOLAR-Kids/Teens) program is a brief, five-session, skills-based program that aims to promote wellbeing for children and teenagers. The program was developed following an international roundtable of child and adolescent mental health and/or disaster experts. The program consists of five sessions for children and two sessions for their parents. It can be delivered by trained SOLAR Coaches.

The current study is a collaboration between Victorian Departments of Health and Department of Education and Training. SOLAR Coaches are trained in the program and are school nurses, teachers, wellbeing officers and other people employed by the Victorian Department of Education. The aim of the program is to evaluate whether the SOLAR-Kids/Teens is safe, feasible and acceptable to children, their parents and the education workers who deliver the program.
